David Barrows is a Los Angeles-born saxophonist / singer-songwriter / composer living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1986. He studied music at San Francisco State University and privately with such artists as Joe Henderson, Steve Coleman, Larry Schneider and others. He has composed and performed in a wide range of musical ensembles and styles.

Barrows has toured Europe with The Klezmorim, written music for original operas performed by the Oakland Opera Theater, dramatic and documentary film scores, and music for computer games. He appears on numerous recordings by artists such as earRotator, Klezmania, Jack Gates, Robert Temple, Quique Cruz, Rafael Manriquez, and others.

In 1994 he founded Hounds of Renown Records, an independent record label based in Oakland, California which has produced albums under his own name, as well as CDs by artists such as Rafael Manriquez and earRotator. In addition to Quijeremá he continues to write music with earRotator and teaches, plays and records as a free-lance artist.
